Contrarian View
Indonesia has budgeted 7% of its annual spending on defense over the past two years in an effort to revamp its aging military arsenal. Military spending was increased by 3.3% to Rp 97 trillion ($ 7.8 billion) in the 2015 state budget – the equivalent of roughly 1.2% of Ind onesia’s gross domestic product – with 40% of it allocated to weaponry and equipment.
